Product Description

Details

The Minox Riga is the first and the smallest subminiature camera ever sold commercially by Minox. Production stared in before World War II in 1938 and ended in 1943. The body is made of stainless steel, which makes it way heavier than the other Minox cameras, but a few millimetres smaller than its successor, the Minox A. Althoug officially designated Minox Riga, it is als known as Minox I.

The Minox Riga was designed by Mr Walter Zapp and was built in Riga Latvia by VEF. Initially autonomous, then briefly under Russian control, followed by German occupation and finally under Russian control again. After WWII, production was moved to Germany and the company name was changed to Minox GmbH.

The Minox Riga cameras are extremely rare today and the ones that have survived are often in very bad condition.

This specific camera is in great condition with only some very small signs of use. The camera is from the German occupation period. Made in USSR is no longer on the camera. Bottom now had the engravig Made in Latvia and below Minox the word Riga is added. No dings or dents and technically in perfect working condition. No problems at all. Comes with a case which is too big but it protects this rare camer.
