Details

Like new probably never used sought after Leica M6 Platinum 150 Jahre Optik limited edition set with 35mm f2 Summicron-M lens.

For the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Carls Kellner's Optical Institute (forerunner of Leitz) in 1849 Leica Camera issued 150 platinum plated M6 cameras. Each camera is engraved with one of the years from 1849 to 1999 together with "150 Jahre Optik" and the name and optical diagram of the matching lens of the set. This is is angraved with 35mm f2 Summicron-M and the special limited number 1945.

In total 5 different sets have seen made:

- Leica M6 Platinum + 50mm f2.8 Elmar-M (1850-1879)
- Leica M6 Platinum + 50mm f2 Summicron-M (1880-1909)
- Leica M6 Platinum + 50mm f1.4 Summilux-M (1910-1939)
- Leica M6 Platinum + 35mm f2 Summicron-M (1940-1969)
- Leica M6 Platinum + 35mm f1.4 Summilux-M (1970-1999)

The cameras are covered with grey snakeskin and are presented in a very nice polished nut-tree root-wood box.

These sets are not offered often. Don't mix this set up with the more common Leica M6 Platinum 150 Years Photography. This set is extremely rare. As said it is in like new condition and complete. Complete with lens hood, body cap, lens caps, strap, papers, presentation box and inner and outer box (outer box shows storage signs and is a bit damaged). Camera itself of course no visible signs of use at all. Maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity.
