Details

Very interesting in fully original condition Leica M3 from the first 600 series from 1954. The first 600 series are extremely sought after and not often seen. Also some of these cameras were modified but this one is in full original condition. Both the body outside and inside are not modified so with all original features like:

- Rewind knob with red slot
- Accessory shoe with half moon
- Early speed dial
- Short transport lever
- Rewind counter with black point
- Top plate with 4 screws
- Longer rewind lever
- Bayonet mount with only 4 screws and no L seal
- Lack of frame selector
- Smaller diameter of eyepiece
- Early back door with dots in the center, 200 ASA etc.
- Shell with Budha ears
- Early version film chamber
- Matching serial number on the inside of the camera
- Early style base plate

Interesting about this set is that it is probably sold all together when the camera came on the market in 1954. According to several books the Leitz 50mm f2 Summicron lens with serial number 1115759 was produced in 1953 and as it is a bayonet mount lens it probably belonged to the M3 (please note the early style front lens cap). The Leicameter MC which comes with box and even is in working condition is a very early one with DIN, ASA and Weston engraving. Later meters didn't have the Weston engraving. Also included is the manual of the Leica M3 which was printed in March 1954 and shows the early features of the early M3. The case is the early case as well. All very interesting and not often offered this complete and this nice.

Some signs of use are visible but nothing too bad. No dings or dents on the camera itself. The base plate shows a little impression at the tripod mount area. Technically in perfect working condition. Speeding times are accurate. Finder is bright and clear. Curtains are light tight. Lens elements are quite clean. Nothing special to mention. Some dust is visible. Really a great piece. Don't miss this one.
