The Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH is made in silver and in black. This lens for sure is hard to find already!
The original Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux was produced from 1966 until 1975 and was the first lens with aspherical lens elements. In fact that lens had 2 aspherical lens elements and these were hand polished. You can imagine how difficult it was to produce that lens. That lens has unique characteristics especially with the aperture wide open. The lens is famous and everybody likes the unique bokeh of that lens.
In the new Leica 50mm f1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH lens, Leica tried to keep the original characteristics. The calculation and construction of the new lens are close so similar to the original lens that the results are nearly identical.
Very interesting about this lens is that Leica made about 5 or 6 prototype Noctilux lenses in the 60's and these were also silver. The production model was only available in black. This current silver lens will be very interesting for both users and collectors. Not many will be available on the market and together with the original silver one a definite must have for real collectors.
Keeping in mind that the red edition Leica 50mm f2 APO-Summicron lens went up in price by about 500% this Noctilux lens for sure will be a very sought after lens in the near future as well. Don't miss this one. It maybe an once in a lifetime opportunity.
